Description
The Dragino MDS200-LB is a LoRaWAN microwave radar distance sensor for IoT solutions. MDS200-LB can measure two distances, the closest object and the next object behind the closest one, with a measuring range of 0.5 m to 20 m (± 0.1 m). It uses a 24 GHz microwave to detect the distance between the sensor and the objects of concern. Compared to alternative distance sensor methods such as ultrasonic or LiDAR, microwave radar is more reliable in wet or dusty environments; the MDS200-LB can sense the correct distance even when water or thick dust is on top of the sensor.
The MDS200-LB uses LoRaWAN technology to send the distance information, allowing for ultra-long-range spread spectrum communication and high interference immunity while minimizing current consumption.
The MDS200-LB supports BLE configuration and wireless OTA update for ease of use, and it is powered by an 8500 mAh Li-SOCl₂ battery designed for long-term use. The MDS200-LB also supports an alarm feature, wherein a user can set it to uplink data in a short interval when the distance is at a certain range.
Each MDS200-LB comes preloaded with a set of unique keys for LoRaWAN registrations, and registering these keys to a local LoRaWAN server will cause it to automatically connect after powering on.
